GRAND LODGE

In 1924 a member gave the freehold of 27 Pembridge Gardens in London’s Notting Hill – now a listed building – as a permanent home and headquarters for the Order. A large Temple was built in the garden space behind the house. All its members take pride in maintaining this elegant house and its elaborate Grand Temple in a fitting style by contributing to the Building Restoration Fund.

Administratively, Grand Lodge also houses the offices of the Grand Master with the Deputy and Assistant Grand Masters, the Secretariat headed by the Grand Secretary, the Grand Treasurer and her staff, the Records Department and the Library and Archive. There is a smaller Temple within the building.

The whole of the Order and all the degrees are administered from the Grand Lodge in London.

The Craft Lodges are organised into areas, each under the care of a senior officer. The Order of Women Freemasons is the oldest and largest Masonic organisation for women in the UK and works on the lines of regular male Freemasonry.

The Order has some 4,500 members in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, South Africa, Spain and Zimbabwe combined. They are grouped into over three hundred Craft Lodges operating under a Grand Master and Grand Lodge. Lodges meet a minimum of four times a year. The financial commitment is not heavy, although it varies from Lodge to Lodge.
